The Haitian American Museum of Chicago

Social Media Content Creator (Studio Institute Arts Intern) | The Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC)Summer 2024

Selected as a Studio Institute Arts Intern, my focus at HAMOC shifted toward non-profit community building and cultural storytelling. I immersed myself in learning about Haitian culture, the African diaspora, and immigration to ensure my communication strategies authentically reflected the community. My role went beyond simply creating social media content; it was about directly connecting the museum's mission—to promote and preserve Haitian art, history, and culture—with a broader audience in Chicago and beyond. By blending digital strategy with on-the-ground support, I learned firsthand that active communication and fostering a strong, supported community are vital for a cultural institution to thrive.

Social Media Campaign

As an arts intern at HAMOC, I managed the end-to-end execution of a five-week campaign designed to amplify Haitian heritage and community impact across Chicago. My strategy centered on producing a rich, educational mix of multimedia content to preserve and promote the museum's core mission. I directed the creation of artist spotlights, historical myth-busting segments, and language-focused Reels exploring Haitian Creole. Coupled with timely event recaps, this comprehensive approach allowed me to build a sustained, culturally resonant digital footprint that connected broader audiences with the vibrant history and art housed within the museum.
